Yarlung Zangbo River hydropower
On July 19, 2025, China’s 1.2 trillion super project started.
The impact is as follows:
1. The power generation exceeds that of 3 Three Gorges power stations.
2. Promote the transformation of energy structure. Reduce about 300 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
3. The construction of the project will directly drive the rapid development of local engineering construction, logistics and transportation, trade and service industries, and promote the coordinated development of the regional economy.
4. Expand infrastructure investment and economic and trade cooperation between my country and neighboring countries.
The hydropower project in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River will profoundly change the future energy and geopolitical pattern.
